Baby Moon Blades- an explanation of our touch-mark.
My dad, Tommy Miller, is the reason Baby Moon Blades exist. His nickname is “Moon” in our hometown of Pontotoc, MS. He is known, to this day, as one of the best hands to ever grace the face of this earth. He brought me into the craft of welding, fabrication, and blacksmithing from a very young age, and demanded the absolute best I could achieve.
My father was not an easy man to grow up with. He was not a man interested in rewarding subpar performance or congratulating mundane actions. Only the absolute hardest work and desirable end product would be acknowledged as sufficient. I am almost forty-four years old and the trend of applauding only excellence continues to this day. My father refuses to acknowledge the good in an inferior piece of work.
My dad’s guidance has often time led me to feel that my effort was inadequate and my work did not pass the test. Inversely, this is the exact driver that caused the biggest breakthroughs and most beautiful creations I ever made. Anything that I l create can be directly linked to my father’s constant pushing to be the best. This contribution to who I am, as a man, cannot be overstated.
My mother is Mollie Miller. As you might suspect, she has balanced this equation over the years. She always prodded me to use my full intellectual power to be imaginative and create new things, even if this resulted in complete failure. From before I have memory, she taught me to read, draw, solve problems, and dissect complicated equations.
My mother is one of my two biggest cheerleaders (Lisa being the obvious other). She always sees the absolute best in what I set my mind and hands to. She sees what I see in my mind and she knows what I’m trying to accomplish, at least to some degree. Just as my quality of output can be linked to my father, the ideas and continued expansion of my ideas must be attributed directly to my mother.
My father has always signed his work with a crescent moon . Around our family home, the house where three generations of Millers currently reside, you will find countless images of the moon and the star representing my parent’s union. The Baby moon, a small crescent moon set in between large crescent moon and the guiding star is simply the visual representation of the source of all my creations.
This is the story of the Baby Moon Blades touch mark.
